Medical Laboratory Technician / Scientist
Role Summary
Provide reliable point-of-care and laboratory diagnostic support for Excel Health’s clinic, home-care and community health services, ensuring accurate sample collection, testing, documentation and escalation of abnormal results.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and process appropriate clinical samples.
- Conduct authorised point-of-care and laboratory investigations.
- Support home-based sample collection where required.
- Maintain accurate patient and laboratory records.
- Ensure correct sample identification, labelling, storage and transportation.
- Perform equipment checks, quality-control procedures and maintenance.
- Identify and promptly escalate critical or abnormal results.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels for laboratory consumables.
- Follow infection prevention, waste management and biosafety procedures.
- Support community screening and corporate wellness programmes.
- Collaborate with doctors, nurses and pharmacists.
Requirements
- Appropriate Nigerian professional qualification and current registration/licence for the scope of practice.
- Relevant practical laboratory experience.
- Experience with point-of-care testing highly desirable.
- Strong phlebotomy/sample-collection skills where within professional scope.
- Good understanding of quality assurance and laboratory safety.
- Digital literacy and accurate record keeping.
- Ability to work independently while recognising escalation boundaries.
