Medical Laboratory Technician / Scientist

Role Summary

Provide reliable point-of-care and laboratory diagnostic support for Excel Health’s clinic, home-care and community health services, ensuring accurate sample collection, testing, documentation and escalation of abnormal results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and process appropriate clinical samples.
  • Conduct authorised point-of-care and laboratory investigations.
  • Support home-based sample collection where required.
  • Maintain accurate patient and laboratory records.
  • Ensure correct sample identification, labelling, storage and transportation.
  • Perform equipment checks, quality-control procedures and maintenance.
  • Identify and promptly escalate critical or abnormal results.
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels for laboratory consumables.
  • Follow infection prevention, waste management and biosafety procedures.
  • Support community screening and corporate wellness programmes.
  • Collaborate with doctors, nurses and pharmacists.

Requirements

  • Appropriate Nigerian professional qualification and current registration/licence for the scope of practice.
  • Relevant practical laboratory experience.
  • Experience with point-of-care testing highly desirable.
  • Strong phlebotomy/sample-collection skills where within professional scope.
  • Good understanding of quality assurance and laboratory safety.
  • Digital literacy and accurate record keeping.
  • Ability to work independently while recognising escalation boundaries.
