Role Summary
The Excel Health Pharmacist will lead safe and effective medication services across our physical clinic, telehealth, home-care and medication-delivery pathways. The role combines clinical pharmacy practice, medication management, patient education, stock governance and service development.
For the right candidate, there may be an opportunity for longer-term leadership participation and potential shareholding/equity, subject to performance, commitment, agreed milestones, due diligence and formal company approval.
Key Responsibilities
- Dispense and manage medications safely and accurately.
- Review prescriptions for appropriateness, interactions, contraindications and dosing.
- Provide medication counselling and adherence support.
- Support chronic disease patients, particularly hypertension, diabetes and respiratory conditions.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, stock levels, expiry dates and storage requirements.
- Establish pharmacy SOPs, medication governance and audit processes.
- Support medication delivery and repeat-prescription pathways.
- Collaborate with doctors, nurses, laboratory staff and care coordinators.
- Support procurement and relationships with pharmaceutical suppliers.
- Participate in health education and community outreach programmes.
- Contribute to the development and growth of Excel Health’s pharmacy service.
Requirements
- Licensed pharmacist with current registration to practise in Nigeria.
- Minimum 2 years’ relevant post-qualification experience preferred.
- Community, hospital, primary care or digital-health experience desirable.
- Strong understanding of medication safety and pharmacy governance.
- Good communication and patient counselling skills.
- Comfortable working with digital health systems.
- Commercial awareness and interest in building a growing healthcare service would be an advantage.
Regulatory & Compliance
- Compliance with applicable pharmacy regulations and professional standards in Nigeria.
- Understanding of patient confidentiality and Nigerian data-protection requirements.
- Safe medication storage, dispensing and record keeping.
- Controlled medicines governance where applicable.
- Pharmacovigilance and adverse drug reaction reporting.
- Strong medico-legal and professional accountability.
KPI Expectations
- Dispensing/medication accuracy target ≥ 98%.
- Patient satisfaction ≥ 85%.
- Appropriate stock and expiry management.
- Minimal avoidable stock-outs.
- Timely completion of pharmacy documentation.
- Compliance with pharmacy SOPs and audits.
- Contribution to service growth and medication-adherence programmes.
Growth & Shareholding Opportunity
Initial appointment could be on a 3–6 month performance-based arrangement, followed by review for an expanded Pharmacy Lead/Head of Pharmacy position.
Exceptional candidates who demonstrate sustained clinical quality, leadership, business development contribution and long-term commitment to Excel Health may be considered for performance-linked equity/shareholding or another long-term incentive arrangement. This should not be promised as automatic entitlement and would require a separate formal agreement.
